When John Wesley Lost His Mind

Faith without works is dead. One of the most often quoted bible verses from one of the shortest books in the New Testament. It becomes a mantra of sorts from churches that like to get things done. And there’s nothing wrong with getting things done. Jesus calls us to do justice and so we do. But sometimes we can get so caught up doing justice that it comes at the expense of our own personal spiritual lives. Our Wesleyan tradition calls us to a balance or a praxis whereby we reflect of the love God in our lives, we respond to this love by doing justice, and in turn we reflect on the work of justice making and the love of God within the work. So may our faith be found alive, and fueled by a reflective practice of being loved by God and being the love of God.
