Advent 2022: Close to Home
On this first Sunday in Advent, we will set our hearts to the rhythm of a new liturgical season. This practice is the response to our Lukan text imploring us to “…be on guard, so our hearts are not weighed down…” There is indeed much from which to guard our hearts; the worries of an ongoing pandemic, political divisions, and the war in Ukraine, not to mention those unspoken places of restlessness within our own hearts. And yet Jesus assures us these things will pass, while God’s word will remain forever. This word promises a day of hope, love, joy, and peace and our worship acknowledges a longing for this day akin to a kind of homesickness. And so, homesick for a day when God’s promises are fulfilled, we enter this new season with the hymn on our lips.
Join us in person or online for worship on Sundays at 10 am. Before you join us for in-person worship, please review our updated mask optional practice.
