Why Can’t We Get Along Without Hurting Others?

In this third and final week of our series “Questions of Faith,” we look today to a very present and relevant question: How do we get along without hurting one another? In recent years, the experience of family division and church divisions over political and theological ideals has become all too painfully common. We’ll look to the Gospel of Mark and Jesus’s own life’s patterns for guidance to stop hurting one another when we disagree. However, where our instincts may compel us to retreat, or to push back, Jesus offers a third way of living into our faith convictions while maintaining a posture of embrace towards those with whom we disagree. We’ll also share in the celebration of the Eucharist, remembering the way in which Christ has embraced each one of us.
