It is Palm Sunday, a time when we remember Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. And so we, like those who hailed Jesus on that day wave our palm branches, shouting “Hosanna – Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.” However, by the time we come to the end of worship our hearts are heavy as we enter into Holy Week, the week of Jesus’s suffering and death. In the gospels, those who celebrated Jesus mostly left him abandoned at the cross. Will we do the same? Or will we walk through Jesus through his trial of suffering? We enter worship in triumph. We leave worship with heavy hearts.
