“Are You One of the Nine?” 

“He thanked him….and he was a Samaritan” In this brief verse the Gospel writer holds seemingly opposing realities. A man has given glory to God AND he was a Samaritan. Also, much like other Gospel texts there were two healings. The first was a physical healing (they were made clean), and the second was salvific (your faith has made you well). There is in this text a relationship found between our gratitude and our spiritual wholeness. God longs to heal us as Jesus healed the ten. But wholeness is more than physical healing. It comes from the reciprocal nature of our faith practice. God’s mercy in our lives responded to in acts of gratitude and praise.
