Psalm 17:1-7,15; Genesis 32:22-31
Jacob wrestles an angel. Or was it God? Does it matter? There was an encounter with God in the midst of deep struggle and Jacob walked away with a new name, and a limp. The limp was proof there had been a wrestling match and he came out of it broken, yet alive. Such are our encounters with God. We walk away with a new name, sometimes quite literally but sometimes figuratively speaking. There is newness. We have been changed. We are different. We walk away alive yet broken. The good news is God comes to us. God always comes to us and leaves us transformed.
