Matthew 17:1-90
This Sunday brings closure to the season of Epiphany and serves as our transition into the season of Lent. On this day much is confirmed about Jesus, while the events of this day draw us deeper into the mystery. Jesus stands on a mountain with disciples when Moses Liberator and the Prophet Elijah stand on either side. Light radiates from Jesus and the voice of God confirms the truth of his baptism that he is God’s son, God’s beloved, followed by the command to the disciples to listen to him. The glory of God is revealed fully in Jesus and confirmed by the law and the prophets. The disciples do not know how to respond. How are we to respond to the revelation of God’s glory?
