Putting on the Fullness of God

We come to the end of the book of Ephesians this week with instructions to the Christian community for guarding ourselves against the forces of evil and the wiles of the devil by putting on the breastplate of righteousness and the helmet of salvation. Much of the book of Ephesians is about what it means for us to be people of God. The conclusion informs us that we are to be a people of resistance. We are to be people who live in ways alternative to how the world would have us to live. It comes down to a question of identity. Who are we? Whose are we? We are the beloved children of the living God and we live a world that will try to convince us otherwise and so we must protect and nurture this identity.
