Disability Awareness Sunday

October 16, 2022 @ 10:00 am

As he walked along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, ‘Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?’ Jesus answered, ‘Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God’s works might be revealed in him. ~John 9:1-3

Jesus said, ‘I came into this world for judgement so that those who do not see may see, and those who do see may become blind.’ Some of the Pharisees near him heard this and said to him, ‘Surely we are not blind, are we?’ Jesus said to them, ‘If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now that you say, “We see,” your sin remains. ~John 9:39-41

This week we celebrate Disability Awareness Sunday. Through the story of Jesus and the ‘Man Born Blind’ found in John’s Gospel, we confront commonly held ideas about disability and challenge each other to look more deeply. In doing so, we celebrate the transformational power of Jesus’ message, hear his call to challenge harmful stereotypes, and recognize the gifts of our brothers and sisters with disabilities.

Join us in person or online for worship on Sundays at 10am. Before you join us for in person worship, please review our updated mask optional practice.
