In the liturgical calendar this Sunday is the First Sunday after the Epiphany and The Baptism of Our Lord Sunday. The season of Epiphany is the season when we discover Jesus is. Where last week we joined with the Magi discovering the Christ Child who would be king, this week we join those gathered for Baptism on the banks of the Jordan to discover God’s affirmation that Jesus is God’s son – the beloved. In turn we discover that we too are God’s beloved and that our primary identity is that found in our Baptism – we are God’s beloved whom God loves. Come hear this message of our belovedness, and join the congregation as all those who are baptized will renew our baptismal vows.
