Appalachia Service Project 2009

The Appalachia Service Project for the summer of 2009 was a fabulous experience with a great team of 31 people. We had five crews who were put to work in Manchester, Kentucky at four different homes.

The crews did a whole lot of drainage ditch digging, roofing, sheet rock, playing with puppies and telling Jesus stories to the neighborhood children and more. We stayed in the very comfortable Clay County middle school with a big group from Minnesota.

Our ASP staff were fantastic, fun and guided us through a week of transformational experiences. We also got to see Carly Wheaton, who worked in Leslie County for the summer. She spent a day with Dawn Wheaton’s team digging and insulating underneath a trailer home. The team is looking forward to leading worship on September 20th and telling many of our stories. Thank you FUMC for helping to send us on a mission trip that changed our lives and the lives of those we helped to keep warmer, safer and drier!
